Green flowers with silky petals
Are lovely to look at
They are so cheap,  they're just five bucks
For the joy they bring, that's not too much

Another "green" I like this morning
Was my sweet good-old-green-smoothie
I offered some to my dear honey
He said, "sorry," he was not that hungry





Paul does not like my green smoothies no matter what fruit I mix the greens with. I don't understand. :)

It's a beautiful spring day
We headed outside
Hands are full, watching dogs
Can't take them to the site
Paul's daughter, Amanda, is playing today
She plays for high school tennis-
State Championship this Thursday
We sure hope she does well
Like in Regionals when
She and her partner played great again and again
Aside from wishing them well 
We hope and we pray
She won't break any noses
Or hit someone like prey
(As that accident happened the previous game)
Oh well, we all cheer for her
Even 119 miles apart
For I'm sure if we go, we would just get barred
The tennis balls in court would make our dogs crazy
They would chase down the balls
For sure, they'd be naughty

Green smoothie with mango, salad greens, and chia

Greens in a cup

My second cup
Of healthful drink
My pick-me-up

I found a recipe
With thick consistency
A drink like smoothie
So good and tasty


A mango, salad greens
And some chia seeds
Blended  with water
Then added more after

After my breakfast
I write in my blog
And then as usual
I take the dogs


To walk and jog
Around the block
Although yesterday
 I just went out 


Out the back door to the backyard
And play with my dogs
Because I got not much time
To stay outdoors
I wasn't planning on walking around the block so I put these in a hurry.

Paul thought I dressed funny. So I looked down, oh well, I like stripes and hearts? :)

Kiwi is one on the list

That is safe for good eats

It is generally safe

It is one of my faves

You don't have to get it organic

And worry about pesticides

So go ahead and bite

And satisfy your appetite

I bought this from Costco. Yum, yum, yum. I eat it plain or mixed with green smoothie.

Green not Purple Eggplant

This one is not from my crops. Actually, my broccoli and kale have said "goodbye" for the the cold season. This is a Kermit eggplant. Supposedly popular in Thailand (not in the Philippines, I have not seen it there) US farms do not commonly grow it because it is green (not the typical purple) and it looks so unusual that customers do not buy it. Supposedly, at least, it tastes like an eggplant.

I did not buy it but maybe next time I will, now that I have looked it up.

It is over $2.00 a pound. I wish the Asian store I found this in puts it on sale.

Kale and Parsley

The idea of growing kale appealed to me because it survives in cold weather. It has been three years that I tried growing kale. Every year, I succeed. It is hardy and easy to care for.

Here, one of my few kale plants still supply me with leaves for salad or for steaming. I harvest the leaves right before preparation or cooking. I noticed the last few leaves I cut off tasted sweeter. I have just learned today that frost actually enhances the flavor as the frost helps transform kale's starch into natural sugars.

I hope my kale continues to survive and bring me more leaves. . . Oh, and look at my parsley around it. I am thinking of making some Kale-berry-parsley-banana smoothie with this recipe. Now, if only I convince Paul to drink this 5-star-rating kale smoothie. It is hard enough to make him eat kale, let alone drink it.
