K is For Kickboxing

Kickboxing at home

I got this punching bag for my teens in hopes that it will stop them from making punching bags out of our walls. I rather them punch this and not hurt their hands and our wallets for fixing the wall. It turns out, I am using it too. Look at me kick!

Oh yeah, both my teen girl and boy love this.

Walking on Thin Ice

Walking on Thin Ice

Step by step, they waddled
On the ice in this cold weather
They remind her of her daughter
and son, since they were toddlers

12-months apart, they're friends
From beginning through the present
They did same things together
They played with one another

Same interests, same friends
Same troubles, she can't recommend
What they did, she can't comprehend
She's sad, she can't pretend

I spotted this birds on my morning jog. They're the little things that made me smile in between my gasping for breath. :)

What a beautiful morning.

Postcard to Teen Son

This is my post card to my son
My child, my first one
He's but a few miles away
But behind the bars he stays
He'll be there for 45 days
For running away

I just visited him yesterday
It turned out to be a bad day
He was blaming me for reporting him
The disappearing, the running

"You did not have to report me
I was gonna come back"
(He was gone for a 5 weeks)
(I didn't know where he was at).

So my visit last night
Did not turn out just right
And before it ends up a fight
I left the room and the site.

Sunday Sketches. sketches, drawing, art, postcard

There is Beauty in the Cold

1
Another year, another beginning
I started the year with forgiving
forgetting, starting over, and thanksgiving

2
There is beauty in the cold
The frozen pond
However rigid, I'm not fond

3
When it's cold, we stay indoors
In this gym, my daughter soars
Jumping to hit that volleyball
She's short, not tall
But, up high, she can reach that ball

4
Home cooked meal
Adds some heat in the house
And with some help of a cookbook
I could whipped up a course
That is so good, of course

5
What is as good as a flower bouquet
But an edible fruit bouquet
It sure brightens our day
With its delicious and refreshing way
In the hospital we enjoyed yesterday

6
Back with the cold
And frost on my windshield
Thank goodness for heat
Even with no heated seat

7
I went to Sprouts on grand opening day
I did not mind the delay
On that busy Wednesday
For I won a $25-worth of products
After spending only 10-bucks

8
Beyond the images and all
There are some things I am thankful for
After my son declared a war from me last fall
He did not live with me for five long weeks
He is finally captured and in juvenile hall
And now that he's there
He'd at least give me a call

9
I am also thankful that my other teen
My daughter who's sixteen
Was safe after disappearing one night
She is quite alright

10
The circumstances are never perfect
I can say my parenting life is a wreck
But I can also say, what the heck
We had a bad day
Tomorrow is another beginning
I can feel better meditating, praying, and hoping.

May God give me more guidance and patience.

Thankful for Kindness

With no attempt to list any kind of chronological order, I am jotting thankful things down, as my phone loads them to this post. (Yup, it is my phone, not me). I am a nurse, a mother, and a nurse. Oh, I said that. Techie, I am not. That is why I have a Blogger platform blog. Word press is just too complicated for me haha.

Here's my thankful list.

  1. I am thankful for another year celebrating Paul's birthday. He gets wiser and wiser, I think.

2. I am thankful for blogger, Ree Drummond. She inspires me to blog (and cook, and take pictures). Now I want a professional camera too to post beautiful sharp pictures like she does. Her cookbooks seem amazing--hardcover, clear pictures, and all.
3. I am thankful I have enough cash to pay for another major repair of my 9-year old van. The radiator, hoses, and other things failed. It is working again and no more toxic smoke coming out from the hood and the vent system. Yikes. My pocket hurts, though.
4. I am thankful to Paul for making me laugh (although I am sure, it was not his intention) with his nerdy, yellow-tinted computer glasses. It is the first time I saw him wearing them. He is now officially a geek (but has no time to fix my Blogger blog haha).
5. I am thankful for the beautiful view as I go to my  unit in the hospital. It's too cold to eat out there, but isn't it beautiful?

6. I am thankful for the loaner car, here covered with snow dust. It is my back up when the van on the left failed.

7. I am thankful to generous Paul for lending it to me, considering that it is his baby.

8. I am thankful for my kind neighbor who helped me deice on a day it took my daughter and I a long time to do it.

9. I am thankful for hot green tea that warms me up and does not give me the coffee jitters.

Ten Things of Thankful, thankful meme, thankful blog
10. I am thankful for this group that keeps me going. My son ran away again. He has been gone for four days now after our argument.

Thank goodness to all the kind people in my life. Nobody here judges me. Just a group of supportive people.

Pray

Seeking for peace and guidance

I, Carin, an exhausted parent of two strong-willed teens, have been chosen to become the strongest mother, among all the other parents with defiant teens.

I will be everything parents ever dreamed of.

Patient. Strong. Intelligent. Perfect.

I will make the silver bullets. I will shoot the bad angels surrounding my children.

I will know what to do everytime they run away, or what to say and do  so they do not run away.

I will protect them.

I will stop them from getting in trouble. . .

But I am not patient. I am not strong. I do not always know what to do. And I am imperfect.

Deep inside, I feel crushed.

Why isn't he home? He has been gone for three nights.

What can I do to prevent this from happening again?

I did it again. I failed my son.

You see, my son left home again. My son who is a chronic runner, who was doing good staying put since summer. He ran away again.

He left on Wednesday night following a heated argument between me and him. It started with the issue of taking the dogs out to go potty. So ridiculous.

How do I cope?

After wiping my tears, I grab my rosary every day (or my virtual rosary group in the form of an app). This rosary is my crutch and support, for this difficult time.

I have done what I know I should do—try to locate/message/call him and his friends. Report to the authorities.

After all that, I could cry a lot, or pray, or say the rosary. But today, I choose to do the last two.

Mother Mary, help me and my son find comfort.

And while you are praying for us, please include the family of the innocent people murdered by a couple in San Bernardino, California.

Help us.
