Thankful for Kindness

Saturday, December 05, 2015 16 Comments A + a -

With no attempt to list any kind of chronological order, I am jotting thankful things down, as my phone loads them to this post. (Yup, it is my phone, not me). I am a nurse, a mother, and a nurse. Oh, I said that. Techie, I am not. That is why I have a Blogger platform blog. Word press is just too complicated for me haha.

Here's my thankful list.

  1. I am thankful for another year celebrating Paul's birthday. He gets wiser and wiser, I think.

2. I am thankful for blogger, Ree Drummond. She inspires me to blog (and cook, and take pictures). Now I want a professional camera too to post beautiful sharp pictures like she does. Her cookbooks seem amazing--hardcover, clear pictures, and all.
3. I am thankful I have enough cash to pay for another major repair of my 9-year old van. The radiator, hoses, and other things failed. It is working again and no more toxic smoke coming out from the hood and the vent system. Yikes. My pocket hurts, though.
4. I am thankful to Paul for making me laugh (although I am sure, it was not his intention) with his nerdy, yellow-tinted computer glasses. It is the first time I saw him wearing them. He is now officially a geek (but has no time to fix my Blogger blog haha).
5. I am thankful for the beautiful view as I go to my  unit in the hospital. It's too cold to eat out there, but isn't it beautiful?

6. I am thankful for the loaner car, here covered with snow dust. It is my back up when the van on the left failed.

7. I am thankful to generous Paul for lending it to me, considering that it is his baby.

8. I am thankful for my kind neighbor who helped me deice on a day it took my daughter and I a long time to do it.

9. I am thankful for hot green tea that warms me up and does not give me the coffee jitters.

Ten Things of Thankful, thankful meme, thankful blog
10. I am thankful for this group that keeps me going. My son ran away again. He has been gone for four days now after our argument.

Thank goodness to all the kind people in my life. Nobody here judges me. Just a group of supportive people.

snow! ice! cold! (maybe if I say it enough, when the time comes here, it will be less unpleasant)
...nah! Resigned to winter, looking forward to not-Winter.*
cars are expensive (to fix) but some repairs are more satisfying than others... re-set the timing so that the engine runs smoother? ho -hum fix the source of toxic fumes backing up into the car? oh boy! oxygen!

*only 17 days until the day begins to get longer rather than shorter!

The snow is pretty, but I'm thankful for our relatively warm fall...when it's not raining. I'm not much for precipitation of any sort. And certainly not if I have to go out in it.

Glad your car can be fixed. Ivy's got a similar situation.

I thought we were being poisoned, I and my teens. That was scary.

I once said when I just moved from California to Colorado that snow only looks good in pictures and Christmas cards. :)

Winter is sparkly, but cold. That's exactly what hot tea was meant for.
:-)
I am horrible with tech too. If I can manage, with help, I suppose anyone could, but glad you are enjoying the process of blogging.

I don't think there is anything better than putting your key in the car and having it work. Having an old van, myself, I have a love hate relationship with my car. Just work...that is all I ask. It looks terrible, therefore will not get stolen, but I do need it to work. No judgement on the son..just hope and prayers that things will turn out ok...it is a difficult road for all. I have walked that road myself. I wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy.

Happy birthday Paul
YAY for enough money to get the van fixed. I hope it's done very soon. And I hope your son makes contact sooner than that. No judgement.

I hope your son comes back, or at least lets you know he's okay. How horribly difficult that must be. I have a WordPress site and it drives me nuts. I'm not very techie either, but maybe if I get some of those yellow glasses - who knows, maybe it'll help. I love the look of first snow. After that, not so much. Stay warm.

Our van has 189,000 miles on it. Every time something goes wrong, we go through the "is it worth it to fix it" discussion. So far, it's worth the fix. It's expensive, but cheaper than another car! Glad you were able to fix yours!
I will be praying for your son.

I am sending hope and positive thoughts your way - parenting teens is tough stuff.

I'm perfectly okay with driving an older vehicle, but I hate hate hate paying for repairs.
