Call Santa: Thursday LOL #4

santa, parenting blog, funny meme

At the waiting room . . .

A toddler boy grabs teddy bear from a girl across the room. The girl, although, surprised, kept calm and hugged her mom in sadness, then buried her face on mom's lap.

Toddler boy's mom asked her son to give back the bear.

No, I don't want to.”

You know, Santa sees you and may not want to give you Christmas presents . . . “

I'm good. Yes, he will.”

This went on and on for about ten minutes.

He then returned the toy, eventually, then quickly turned to his mother.”

I'm being good. Now can we call Santa? Tell him I'm good, okay?

Thursday LOL #3: Meditation

Paul and I were passing the busy street of Federal one night, when we noticed this ad on the side of the street,

“Meditate Fast, We Push You How to Relax.”

How exactly do they do that?”

It's like saying, hurry up and relax.”

Relaxing is not synonymous with getting hurried, that's for sure.

If you are following my blog, you have heard that my father passed away a week ago. He got buried yesterday and so I am not in the most relaxed mood of my life. I need to relax and meditate. So the post today is on meditation.

Five Minute Meditation For Busy People

I seem to not have time for a lot of things lately and I had been skipping on meditation. Bad. In this stage in my life, that is when I need it the most. So, I searched for a way to meditate that only takes five minutes but yet, still effective. I use You Tube for this and here is a link. What do you need besides You tube? A quiet place to sit or lie down.

A Video on 5-minute Guided Meditation

And here is a written instruction if you do not want to watch and be guided with You Tube.

Instructions on Five-Minute Meditation

  1. Sit or lie in a quiet area wearing comfortable clothing . Close your eyes.
  2. Be conscious about sitting still. How does it feel?
  3. Be aware of your contact with the chair or area you are sitting or lying on.
  4. Take notice of your breathing in and out. Be conscious of how your chest and abdomen move.
  5. You can put your hands on abdomen and feel the movement this way.
  6. Take notice of the gentle rise and fall of your body while breathing in and out.
  7. Notice the air flowing through your nostrils into your chest as you inhale and exhale through.
  8. If your mind wanders, simply go back concentration with breathing and your body.
  9. Try to stay with this meditation for at least a minute observing your breathing.
  10. Do this meditation daily, each day adding a minute or two to the point you are spending at least five minutes.

Are you ready to meditate?

Or do you have anything funny to say about meditation?

Thursday LOL #2: My Kids and I

Ordinary Days That Made Me Smile

Can you remember some conversation that just stick to you?

She is so . . .

We were in the recreation center one day by the pool waiting for my son's swimming lessons, when an older lady walked in front of us in her bathing suit.

My son who was 3 at that time, with not-so-inside voice, exclaimed in disbelief, “Mom, look, she is so ___.”

I put his pointing hand down and suddenly I felt so hot on my face. I wanted to disappear like magic.

And Then There's . . .

Recently, my teen daughter told me, she went to a friend's house. She was looking at the pictures on the wall and noticing how good looking those people are. And with almost sad voice, she said,

“And then, there's (her friend's name)'s pictures.”

“I hope you did not say that out loud.”

“No mom, I was just thinking . . . “

I guess my kids are growing up in some ways. :)

Your turn.

Thursday LOL #1: Let's Laugh Together

I thought it was so cute and thoughtful of my dog, Wally, when a few times I was sobbing, he would come to me and kiss me until I stopped crying. I did not think it was cute anymore when I was happy singing out loud one day, and he rushed to me to kiss me until I stopped singing.

My daughter liked to experiment with my beauty products even as a preteen. When she was eleven, she asked me about this facial cream I bought. I told her the ad says it could make one look ten years younger. She dropped the bottle on my dresser immediately saying, “Oh, no, that is not for me. I don't want to look like a baby!”

I will start writing weekly posts on Thursdays on the things that made me smile to help me focus on the funny things in life. After all, laughter is the best medicine. Will you come, visit, and join me? Link your post here whether it is a picture, a video, a joke, a conversation, a story, or something you heard, seen, or read (that you have permission in sharing).

Let us Laugh Out Loud (LOL) together.
The optional theme for TLOL#1 is : YellowOneA, or Fall. Use one or some of them in your post.
