There is Beauty in the Cold

Saturday, January 16, 2016 19 Comments A + a -

1
Another year, another beginning
I started the year with forgiving
forgetting, starting over, and thanksgiving

2
There is beauty in the cold
The frozen pond
However rigid, I'm not fond

3
When it's cold, we stay indoors
In this gym, my daughter soars
Jumping to hit that volleyball
She's short, not tall
But, up high, she can reach that ball

4
Home cooked meal
Adds some heat in the house
And with some help of a cookbook
I could whipped up a course
That is so good, of course

5
What is as good as a flower bouquet
But an edible fruit bouquet
It sure brightens our day
With its delicious and refreshing way
In the hospital we enjoyed yesterday

6
Back with the cold
And frost on my windshield
Thank goodness for heat
Even with no heated seat

7
I went to Sprouts on grand opening day
I did not mind the delay
On that busy Wednesday
For I won a $25-worth of products
After spending only 10-bucks

8
Beyond the images and all
There are some things I am thankful for
After my son declared a war from me last fall
He did not live with me for five long weeks
He is finally captured and in juvenile hall
And now that he's there
He'd at least give me a call

9
I am also thankful that my other teen
My daughter who's sixteen
Was safe after disappearing one night
She is quite alright

10
The circumstances are never perfect
I can say my parenting life is a wreck
But I can also say, what the heck
We had a bad day
Tomorrow is another beginning
I can feel better meditating, praying, and hoping.

May God give me more guidance and patience.
TTOT, thankful post, thankful blog, motivation, parenting teen

Very lyrical - love it!

Your daughter going missing must have been hell. Thank God is was just for the one night and that she came back unharmed.

I enjoy a frozen pond, but there is no better feeling than when you get into a freezing cold car and the heat finally kicks in.
Love the style of your TToT this week, even though you deal with some really heavy parenting issues. Well done still finding plenty to celebrate.

I admire and respect your being able to put cold (and many of the other difficult things in life) in a perspective that allows you to hold on to the positive things, simply because positive begets positive.

Awesome attitude during a tough time. Hang in there. I pray your love will help your children grow through this.

I can choose to deal with it as positive as I can or not. I chose the positive.

Great poems, wonderful sentiments, and I hope very much that you will find hope and guidance from God or others, and that gradually your relationships with your children begin to heal, and bridges get built.

That fruit bouquet looks glorious, and I admit there's beauty in the cold, even if I can't stand the cold...

Such a creative and poetic TToT! I'm sorry you are struggling so much with your kids, but glad to hear they are both at least safe. You need to look into local resources, social services that can help you with the kids, perhaps a case manager. Maybe individual and family counseling, if you find a place that determines payment on a sliding scale it can be very reasonable. Wishing you the best, xo...

Social services is involved with my son and the kids have individual counselling, and we have family counselling. Today, I will be seeking for counselling for me (again). Thanks.

I love the way you created your post having a combination of poetry and photos giving us a glimpse into your world. The fruit bouquet is as beautiful as it was tasty I imagine. Hopefully your son will turn around his life and you and he will both have peace of mind. Sometimes I think that writing poetry is in a way therapeutic.

Love love love your post!
Those fruit bouquets are so good, aren't they? Love them, especially in winter. Even if I know the fruit may not be in season, I can't help love them.
Your frosty snowflake window picture is so beautiful - the details of the flakes and the sunshine make a lovely contrast.
Forgiveness...you mentioned that at the beginning of your list. Do you have a post to share with us for 1000 Voices for Compassion this month? We're linking up for one more day (I have a link-up on my blog) and the topic this month is forgiveness.

Poetry writing is indeed therapeutic for me as drawing or painting.
