December Thankfuls

1. I am thankful for eggnog pancake. I made it from scratch from the idea of I-am-out -of-eggs but eggnog I have! It turned out yummy and ultra soft, a nice breakfast this Saturday morning. Get the recipe here. Mine turned out fine minus added sugar and baking powder.

2. I am thankful for holiday cookies. They are a joy to look at. I did not buy any because I think $2.99 each cookie is too much for my wallet.
3. I did buy a cherry birthday cake from this specialty bakery. My daughter picked it for herself and the staff gladly customized it for her right that instant.

4. I thank my daughter for liking the card I hand made or her. She liked the poem, especially.
5. I thank the rhyming dictionary online. It is much easier to use it than flipping pages on rhyming book. :)

6. I am thankful for an easy Christmas decor as I do not have the mood to put up a tree. Here is the only tree up in my house. It is right on the dining table.
7. I am thankful for the holiday spirit co-workers and patients' families bring to the hospital. At least, I feel the spirit there.
8. I am thankful my daughter stayed home has not run away since November.
9. I am thankful my son still cared about his grade and showed up in school the day of finals. I hope he goes home but he said he does not want to yet. "Maybe on Monday," he would. He looks normal and happy though. Unfortunately, he is bigger than me and I just cannot pick him up and load him in the van to take home. The authorities are not helpful, unfortunately. Long story.
10. I am thankful I have not given up on my teens.

There is hope.

Hi Carin. Sometimes less is lots more when it comes to decorating for Christmas. The poem/card you made your daughter is beautiful and I hope she keeps it forever. A beautiful tribute of love. Teenagers can be trying (I survived two) but they do turn into normal and enjoyable adults. Hang in there!

I don't know how people stay in business charging $3 per cookie. I can't imagine it tastes good enough for that.
I didn't know there was such a thing as a rhyming book!

Merry Christmas to you.
I spent a lot of time in a hospital this past week and it does have a different feel around the holidays, you are right.

Glad to hear you are out.
Some families bring a miniature Christmas tree in the room. So cute.

I'm so glad to hear your son and daughter are with you. That's wonderful. And yes, three bucks a cookie is pretty steep for my taste. They are beautiful, though!
And pancakes! Yum!
