Thanksgiving Goodness

Saturday, November 28, 2015 13 Comments A + a -

1. I am thankful for the food on our table (or counter top, or floor, or closet, my teens/dogs leave there).
2. I am thankful to my teens who helped me wrap and deep-fry these lumpia (spring rolls). It is labor intensive to do alone.
3. I am thankful that we are all together again like last year on a Thanksgiving holiday.

4. I am thankful that we did not get a foot of snow. I found the cars without trouble this morning.
5. I am thankful that Paul lends me his car after my trouble van died.

6. I am thankful for this kitchen timer. I could time my undesirable tasks and promise myself to do them for only 20 minutes. It helps make the tasks doable for me.

7. I am thankful for this laptop pad. It prevents overheating of my computer while I am in bed.

8. I am thankful for exciting volleyball games my daughter participates in. I feel better watching this than Denver Broncos.

9. I am thankful for my high school friend, Mario, from Chicago who took time out of his busy schedule to meet me. He is silly as ever and makes me laugh.

10. I am thankful for his kindness, for listening to my complaints.

What are you thankful for?

Ohhh my sister told me this week that she does the same thing as you (albeit not with the timer) and does chores for 20 minutes before sitting down for a cup of tea, knowing that she has achieved something. I think I need to adopt that philosophy. I certainly need more structure to my housework attempts!

Glad you had a good week, and enjoyed time with your family over thanksgiving.

The house chores are my undesirable tasks. :)

I love spring rolls, but I can imagine how time consuming they would be to prepare.

I don't always remember to use a timer, but when I do, tasks seem less intimidating--and I often finish them in less time than I anticipated!

What would we do without laptop pads to prevent over heating?
:-)
Have a lovely week.

Ooooo, I love spring rolls! I like Vietnamese ones that aren't fried, too, except they feel like human skin and that kind of grosses me out. Glad your kids were helpful; I always say I am the Little Red Hen, where no one will help me thresh the wheat, grind the flour, bake the bread, but they're always around to EAT it. Enjoy the volleyball! I'm kind of sorry my daughter isn't playing club ball this winter.

I have not thought about that "feel like human skin." Thanks to you, now I do. LOL

Those spring rolls look great! I've never tried to make them, but do enjoy eating them. I used to use a kitchen timer to help motivate me to do some of those tasks that weren't my favorite. I should start doing that again.:-)
